Director of Montana INBRE Student Programs

"Montana INBRE is committed to building a vibrant community of young scholar scientists in Montana. We consider our students to be investigators in training, and our goal is to prepare them for careers in biomedical research and public health. Montana INBRE Student Research Programs provide young investigators with the framework to conduct real research and practice professional career skills such as working with a mentor, securing funding, and seeking out training opportunities -- all within the context of a supportive, collaborative and friendly network.

Undergraduate Opportunities

Montana INBRE Student Research Programs (SRPs) contribute to the pipleine of future professional researchers by supporting undergraduate research opportunities throughout Montana and extending those opportunities throughout the RAIN and IDeA Program Western Region networks. SRPs offer undergraduates access to cutting-edge experiences working with top-rated faculty across Montana.

MT INBRE Scholars at MSU

For MSU-Bozeman undergrads

This program begins with an immersive, 10-week, high-impact summer research experience in a lab with a faculty mentor; Open to undergraduates enrolled at MSU-Bozeman.

MT INBRE Scholars Statewide

For Montana-based, non-MSU undergrads

Spend your summer in Bozeman! A 10-week summer research experience open to sophomore, junior, and senior-level undergraduates from institutions throughout the Montana INBRE network.

MT INBRE Visiting Scholars

For RAIN and IDeA W. Region undergrads

Spend your summer in Bozeman! A 10-week summer research experience open to sophomore, junior, and senior-level undergraduates from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

RAIN Student Exchange

For Montana-based undergrads

A variety of current opportunities for Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming-based college students to conduct research in another participating RAIN state.

Conference & Workshop Travel

For Montana-based undergrads

Montana-based students conducting health-related research may be eligible for funding to present research at a conference or gain new skills at a workshop.

Retreats & Trainings

For Montana-based undergrads

Each summer, Montana INBRE hosts a training and cohort-building retreat open to all Montana-based undergrads conducting biomedical research, either through the INBRE Scholars program or other student research program.
