Hyalite Reservoir Student Programs Summer Retreat
Each summer, Montana INBRE hosts a student training and cohort-building retreat open to all Montana-based undergrads conducting biomedical research in the state. Students participating in one of the Montana INBRE Scholars programs are especially encouraged to attend, though a students from another student research program or lab group are also welcome to join.
The workshop is free for students and mentors to attend and takes place at a rustic mountain retreat location directly on the reservoir shore. Training topics vary each year depending on speaker availablity and cohort need but typically inlcude broad areas like scientific communication, graduate school and career planning, research collaboration bulding, having difficult conversations, self-advocacy, and other topics to help propell students forward.
During the retreat there are also cohort-building opportunities and time for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding.
